As the days slowly begin to warm and the light stretches a little longer into the evenings, Spring is starting to wake up here at the Barn. This time of year is always filled with anticipation, planning and lots of dirty fingernails, and jeans-and this season is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet.
We are incredibly grateful to share that 23 weddings are already on the calender for the upcoming season, and they will take us to some remarkable venues throughout the region. Each couple brings their own vision & style, and we cannot wait to begin creating the seasonal, garden-inspired designs that make every wedding unique.
Some of the venues we will be visiting this year include the historic Hotel Du Village in New Hope, PA on April 11th. Think flowering branches, tulips, hyacinths, ranunculus, hellebores, anemones and gorgeous garden roses from our wholesalers. The perfect Spring wedding awaits. Then, we have host of Bridal showers all Spring long. So many beautifully inspired themes, like Love Shack Fancy & Vueve Clicquot.
May marks the start of our monthly visits to the Fair Haven Farmer's Market, featuring our Flower Collaborations from three flower farms collectively known as the Crabapple Flower Collective. Get there early, we sell out. May 9th is the first day! Grab your Mother's Day Bouquets! We have our yearly collab with the Cancer Crusher event at the Navesink, an incredibly important fundraiser benefitting pediatric cancer at MSKCC. Then we round out the month with a coastal blue and white wedding at The Essex & Sussex in Spring Lake. Oh, we can not forget the 2000 dahlias that need planting!! yikes.....
The Flower Farm is Beginning to Wake Up
Out in the field, the first signs of spring are beginning to appear. The tulips (10k) this year, are peeking thru the soil, tiny shoots pushing their wau towards the sun after an unbearably long Winter. It was a beautiful winter though wasn't it? Grab your tulip subscriptions now, they are live on the site!
Not far away, we planted 1000 ranunculus yesterday, one of our favorite flowers for spring weddings. These delicate blooms are known for their layered petals and romantic colors. There is a certain type of joy we derive from growing our own blooms. No feeling replaces it. Its healing. Growing creates and spreads joy, I can not imagine not doing it.
Flower Subscriptions are Now Open
Our famous tulips subscriptions are now live, and we are so excited to share the very first flowers of the season with our community.
We have also opened our 3-season flower subscription, 28 weeks from April 15th-October 14th. Our flower lovers enjoy fresh flowers grown right here at the farm throughout the seasons. We love to connect to the community through our locally grown, seasonal flowers.
Spring Work on the Farm
oh what a mess!! So much cleanup from this Winter!
There are beds to clean, rows to till, compost to lay down, seedlings to plant. And we are ready - a reminder that behind every beautiful bouquet is a lot of hard work and preparation.
The barn itself is due for a much needed reset after a quiet winter season, it became a catch all for all the packages arriving daily for all our upcoming weddings and events. These quiet days of late winter and early spring are also some of our favorites. They are the days when the farm slowly begins it wake from a winter slumber, when new growth appears before us daily, and the dreams of the upcoming season take root.
Looking Ahead
With 23 weddings on the calendar, 1000s of flowers to be planted, and out first tulips emerging, we see a season of promise before us.
We are forever grateful for the couples, clients, and community who support us year after year. We get to do this everyday. And we love what we do - creating. unforgettable floral designs every single day.
We'll see you soon
